Australia has surpassed the Asian continent in terms of the number of Bitcoin ATMs available for use.
The Asian continent, which includes major economies such as China, Japan, Singapore, and India, is home to 355 Bitcoin ATMs, representing 1 percent of the total Bitcoin ATMs installed worldwide.
The Number of Bitcoin ATMs Worldwide Decreases
Australia, which has experienced an increase in Bitcoin ATM installations since the beginning of 2023, rose from fifth to third place in January. Data from Coin ATM Radar shows that the country is making efforts to convert from fiat to crypto.
Unlike leading European countries and the United States, Australia has increased the number of Bitcoin ATMs in the past eight months. In this process, the number of ATMs worldwide decreased. According to a previous report by Cointelegraph, 412 Bitcoin ATMs were disabled worldwide in the first two months of 2023.
Documents recently leaked from the Australian Treasury Department revealed that crypto legislation is imminent. In this context, the Australian government plans to issue consultation documents in the second quarter of 2023.
However, it is thought that the final presentations to the cabinet will be made later in the year. This means that any decision on crypto legislation could be delayed to 2024.
