READING NOW Legendary Music Player Winamp Returns!

From the late 90’s to the 2010’s, the most popular music listening application of internet cafes and computers in our homes is Winamp unconditionally. Sometimes when they share that legendary interface on social media as nostalgia, we always go back to the past.

Of course, that interface is now out of date, no longer usable. It seems that Winamp has realized how valuable it is in the eyes of people and that the old interface and working system will no longer work because we are faced with a brand new Winamp.

Winamp comes to Android with a major refresh, but it won’t be what you expect

Winamp, which is now owned by a company called Llama Group, is back with a brand new online app that is nothing like the original version. The remastered version of Winamp will have a system similar to that of Spotify or Apple Music. Instead of subscribing to the service to access Winamp’s entire library of songs, you’ll be able to individually subscribe to the artists you want and support them that way.

This new Winamp is actually a mix of Patreon and Spotify. The library of the application is not very large at the moment. The artists available on the app are a group of independent European and Vietnamese bands and singers, all of whose catalogs are available for a $1 a month payment.

If you’re into indie music, it might make sense for now, but there’s nothing quite popular yet. You will eventually be able to play locally downloaded music as well and connect to other music streaming services as well. While Winamp doesn’t exactly sell it as a beta, the app feels unfinished from the moment you sign up.

Redesigned Winamp is expected to be released to iOS in the third quarter of this year. What are you thinking? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
