Popular social media platform Instagram is in intense competition with TikTok thanks to its Reels tab. According to a blog post published by the company recently, the company has introduced some innovations specific to the Reels tab for content creators.

Here are the new features coming to Reels:

It’s now easier to find out what’s trending in Reels, as announced in the company’s blog post. A new tab is now available on Reels showing the most trending songs and hashtags for creators to discover new content ideas and keep up with the latest trends.

With this tab, you can see how many times the sounds are used, tap to use them or record your own sound. You can also control video clips, sounds, stickers, and text from a unified editing screen, with a new update that lets you time your reels more accurately.

Improved Reals analytics to better understand how content is performing with the released update, Instagram adds two new metrics tabs, total watch time and average watch time.

Total watch time shows the total time your Reels have been played, including the time spent replaying the Reels. Average watch time, on the other hand, gives the average time calculated by dividing the watch time by the total number of plays. Finally, the update, which has only been released to a few countries, is expected to be widely available in the near future.
