Rumors circulating over the past weeks have pointed out that the iPhone 15 Pro has solid-state buttons with haptic feedback. Not long ago, however, the wave of rumors has turned and Apple has apparently been rumored to be giving up on solid-state button technology.
Haitong Tech analyst Jeff Pu recently said that the iPhone 15 Pro will retain the physical buttons of its predecessor. Pu claimed that the capacitive buttons will have a complex design, which is why Apple decided to delay the feature until next year.
Then on Wednesday, trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo backed up the claim, saying “unresolved technical issues before mass production” forced Apple to abandon solid-state buttons for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
Now MacRumors claims to have the most accurate image of the new volume button design. The news outlet teamed up with leak source Unknownz21 to create a lifelike view of the volume and mute buttons. MacRumors says the rendering was created “before the latest solid-state rumors,” so there may be changes to the interior layout, but the publication also notes that “the exterior design will likely remain the same.”
The source of the leak says that “solid state button design was still in development until very recently and there is a possibility that it has not been canceled.” Still, it might be useful to remind you that we still have five months to find out what the iPhone 15 Pro models will look like.
Pro versions of the upcoming iPhone model are expected to feature a new stainless steel bezel and are said to have thinner bezels. However, if Apple doesn’t change the side buttons, the design of the phone could remain in a much more similar form to what we currently have.
