Japan showed support for OpenAI

Japan is showing support for OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot amid nationwide bans and worldwide uncertainty. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said Japan would consider incorporating AI technology into government systems such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot, provided privacy and cybersecurity issues are addressed.

Support for Artificial Intelligence from Japan

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is in trouble in many countries over privacy rules. Following investigations in Europe, Canada launched an investigation against OpenAI for collecting and using personal information without permission. But finally, Japan gave support to OpenAI after bans from different countries.

Recently, Italy’s data protection agency launched an investigation into OpenAI, citing ChatGPT’s problems. As this investigation continues, criticism of artificial intelligence is increasing.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman received statements from senior government spokesman Matsuno during his visit to Japan before meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Matsuno stated that the Japanese government will consider adopting OpenAI technology if privacy and cybersecurity concerns are addressed.
