It would probably not be wrong to describe what happened to the man living in the USA who suddenly saw many people who lost their iPhone at his door, as “extraordinary” in one word.
If you lose your iPhone in the Houston area, don’t go to Scott Schuster’s house hoping to get it back… Schuster, who lives in the city’s Richmond suburb, is tired of telling everyone who comes to his door that he doesn’t have the phone. But what is every iPhone loser doing at his door? According to many reports, this is due to a technical issue that has caused Apple Maps to guide a large number of strangers to its door over the years.
The “Find” phone tracker app and Apple Maps caused major problems for Schuster due to a minor technical glitch. “There are a lot of people who have had a rough night and lost their phone and think it was stolen,” Schuster says, worrying that someone will come to their house with a gun one day, thinking their phone was stolen by me.
Fortunately, nothing like this has ever happened. But still, Schuster’s footage has recorded numerous angry strangers outside his house asking for their devices.
Apple has not yet made a statement on the subject. But the Texas tech has his own theory as to why his address appears as a “lost smartphone hub.” His house was an exemplary house for his neighborhood when it was first built. As a result, Apple Maps seems to assign every house in the neighborhood to a single shared address. So to Schuster’s house. Wherever a phone is in the expanse of the suburban area, Apple’s apps come together to show it’s at his house.
