Polkadot Obtains Trademark Registration for Blockchain Communications Platform
Polkadot, which describes itself as “Layer-0 Blockchain,” has filed for trademark registration, which according to a recent filing appears to be a blockchain-based messaging app. The phrase “Polkadot Converse” has been registered as a trademark and additional information regarding the application has been added to the “products and services” section of the filing.
Polkadot’s trademark application includes:
“Software for social networking; software to create, manage and interact with an online community, software to send and receive electronic messages, graphics, images, audio content.”
Additionally, according to data from exchanges, Polkadot remains the 11th largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of approximately $7.5 billion.
The introduction of social media and instant messaging could shift the focus of Polkadot, which has previously focused its efforts on parachain technology and high transaction speeds.
