Apple has launched new iMacs and new MacBook Pro laptops using its own chipset, but two frequently requested features still remain that are not yet available in the Mac lineup: Touchscreens and Face ID support.

When asked in an interview with the Wall Street Journal with Apple executives Tom Boger and John Ternus, the latest computers lack both of these features, but officials responded in the negative. It seems that Face ID and touchscreens are not considered to be included in the Mac lineup.

Boger says having Touch ID on a Mac keyboard is more convenient than Face ID because your hands are already placed there. When it comes to touchscreens, it seems that Apple doesn’t want to do anything that could affect iPad sales.

According to Ternus, the iPad is “the world’s best touch computer”, while the Mac is “fully optimized for direct input.”
