With the glorious success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Insomniac’s amazing Spider-Man, Marvel fans have been asking for a AAA-quality Avengers game for a very long time. Finally, in 2020, Crystal Dynamics came out with the Marvel’s Avengers game.
The game was a complete disaster when it came out. Players complained a lot about the fact that the game was filled with fan service (elements to attract fans), not enjoyable to play, and no in-game shopping. On top of all this, we learned in the past months that the game will receive its last update in March and will be closed on September 30.
It’s time for the last update
Marvel’s Avengers got its latest update today. Today, Crystal Dynamics released patch 2.8 for Marvel’s Avengers, which adds some recent features and bug fixes to the game before it was removed from sale in September.
We can summarize the details of the update as follows:
- Almost all MCU-inspired and non-MCU-inspired Outfits, Emotes, and Nameplates are now automatically available in the Hero Card.
- Items earned by playing the story or purchased through the Cosmetics Vendor must be earned or purchased respectively, as always.
- Both the Dispatch system and Hero Challenge Cards have been completely removed from the game. Items previously earned from Shipments and Hero Challenge Cards are included in the hundreds of Marketplace items that are automatically awarded when you update to 2.8.
- After updating to 2.8, you do not need to be connected to the internet to access all unlocked Marketplace content.
- A special Founder’s Gift will be awarded: Iron Man’s ‘Variable Threat Response Combat Suit’. This Outfit will be automatically awarded to all winning players.
- All existing Credit balances have been converted to in-game resources.
- Owned Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment Extractors have been completely removed from the game. In their place, Pieces earned and XP earned now have a permanent 1.5x multiplier.
Crystal Dynamics announced the patch via a blog post thanking gamers for their support. The game is currently available on Xbox Game Pass. Therefore, if you want to play until September, you can play with everything in the game as we mentioned above.
