WhatsApp has had a timed messages feature for a while. When you enable timed messages, you can set messages to disappear 24 hours or 7 and 90 days after they are sent. And now it looks like WhatsApp will finally let users choose from over a dozen durations for their disappearing messages.
Now WhatsApp users can choose between different durations for their disappearing messages. Currently there are options such as 24 hours or 7 and 90 days and no other options in between; which doesn’t leave much room for WhatsApp users to customize these privacy parameters.
But as spotted by WaBetaInfo in the beta version of the WhatsApp desktop app for Windows, Meta is now working to add another 12 different durations for disappearing messages. This beta version of the WhatsApp desktop app will offer a dozen more times for existing messages as well as for disappearing messages. These include 1, 3, 6 and 12 hours; There are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 14, 21, 30, 60, 180 days and 1 full year. Thus, WhatsApp users will now have much more control over their privacy.
It is currently unknown when this new beta feature will be released on public WhatsApp versions. We’ll wait and see…
