When we left Counter Strike 1.6, the indispensable thing of internet cafes, and entered Global Offensive, everything suddenly leveled up. After that, we waited for the next level of this for many years, roughly the second game. Valve also avoided actions that would break our excitement in this process. (as opposed to what it did for Half Life 3)

The reference of many reliable sources to a new Counter Strike game developed with the Source 2 engine was one of the developments that kept this excitement alive. Now, on top of all this, we see that Valve has registered the name CS2. It’s almost coming.

It is not clear exactly what the product will be. But something is definitely being worked on.

In this image, where you see 4 names, there are two CS2 and two Counter Strike. One of the CS2 name registrations was taken over entertainment service such as providing online gaming service. The other CS2 name shows itself in the category of computer game software, video game and downloadable game programs from the internet.

Counter Strike names also show parallels with them. Because while one of these names is in the category of game software and downloadable games, we can see that the other is registered in the field of online game service. The “notable part” you see at the beginning of the news is that the names are registered in different categories.

As we said, it is certain that new things are being worked on in the field of Counter Strike.

But the details at hand are too few to comment on the subject. Therefore, we do not know whether a new game will come, whether it will come as a separate title or as an additional package to the existing game, or whether it will come as a giant update.

We’ll keep you posted as new details emerge. So, which one do you think would be better for the new generation Counter Strike? Is it coming out as a separate game or as a DLC/update?

You can browse the registered names from this link.
