Electric scooters, which are preferred for the practicality of transportation and sometimes for entertainment, have attracted intense interest in recent years. Of course, how convenient the roads and transportation systems of our country are for scooters is debatable. Although it provides convenience, scooters that pose danger are constantly on the agenda with accidents and dangerous events, various measures are taken.
According to the measures taken for municipalities, scooters must be used at a certain speed limit and in certain places. The police, on the other hand, conduct inspections to determine whether scooter users comply with these rules and to penalize those who do not. Finally, a strict inspection was carried out for scooter users in certain parts of Istanbul.
Some users claimed that they did not know the rules
During the inspections carried out in Kadıköy, Beşiktaş and Fatih by the Istanbul Police Department Traffic Branch Directorate teams and the civil traffic police, those who used scooters in violation of the rules were penalized. The teams imposed a fine of 314 liras on people using scooters on the sidewalk under the Highway Traffic Law.
During the inspection, a citizen who went to work by scooter was fined because it was more affordable than public transportation, and the citizen stated that the fines were more expensive than public transportation. Some citizens, on the other hand, said that they would not pay the fines, that they were not informed about how to use these vehicles, and that they did not know the rules.
