With Diablo IV’s early access open beta just days away, many are wondering if Blizzard’s action RPG will be added to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscription programs. Unfortunately, it looks like that won’t happen on June 6, the game’s release date.
In a Twitter post, Rod Fergusson, General Manager of the Diablo series at Blizzard (and formerly General Manager of Microsoft’s Gears of War developer The Coalition), said: “We’re getting some questions about D4 in Game Pass and we have a plan for that. I want to let you know that it is not.”
As it is known, Microsoft is trying to buy Blizzard’s parent company, Activision Blizzard, and is working hard to get various government regulators in the UK, EU and US to approve this acquisition. If the process goes well, many expect the Activision Blizzard game library to be available on Xbox Game Pass. But for now, it looks like this expectation will not come true for Diablo IV.
Meanwhile, early access to the Diablo IV open beta will begin on March 17 and end on March 20. The final release will arrive on PC on June 6, Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
