One of the indispensable application types of the Android ecosystem is “phone acceleration” applications. These apps promise to speed up the phone and reduce battery consumption. However, Android 14, which Google has been working on for a while, seems to bring the end of these applications. Because, according to the company’s statement, the API named “killBackgroundProcesses”, which allows to stop the services running in the background, will be unusable with Android 14.
As a matter of fact, Google did not like the possible phone acceleration applications. The company, which argues that the applications are unnecessary, while accepting the instantaneous acceleration, argues that such applications actually harm the phone more. In fact, Google’s thinking is largely correct. Because research on phone acceleration applications revealed that Android resources are consumed more when closed services are restarted. Yes, phone acceleration applications worked instantly, but later on, the phone was more tiring.
Phone boost apps will naturally be history in a few years
Phone acceleration apps won’t make any sense for phones that will be sold with Android 14 or will get Android 14 update. In other words, it will be the end of the road for these applications. If we consider the speed with which Android 14 reaches all phones, we can say that in a few years these applications will be completely obsolete.
Phone acceleration apps dealing with closing apps in the background could cause some apps to crash and degrade system stability. With the decision taken by Google, such problems will be prevented.
So what are the other innovations in Android 14?
