Launched as a competitor to Steam in December 2018, Epic Games has unfortunately never been the first choice of players, although it tries to attract players with free games and campaigns. However, Epic Games Store, which has been gradually rising in the eyes of the players thanks to the “Safe Accounts for Children” and many more features it brings, is now preparing to conquer the hearts of independent game developers.

According to Epic Games’ statement today, the company will be able to easily publish their own games on the Epic Games Store without the support of any publisher studio, starting today. Moreover, the company will not receive commissions from in-game purchases.

Epic Games could soon be overflowing with gameplay

According to the information on the official site of Epic Games, the company will allow game developers to publish their own games from today. A 12% commission will be charged for paid games from developers who publish their game without the need for a publishing studio. However, all in-game payments will be transferred directly to the developer. However, of course, developers who want to publish games are also expected to follow some strict rules.

For example, developers who publish a multiplayer game need their games to have cross-platform support. In addition, the games will not contain hate speech and discriminatory content, pornography and adult content. In addition, published games must also support “Epic Games Achievements”.

Some games will be released immediately, while others will be reviewed.

While the games that fully comply with the rules mentioned above will take their place directly in the store, the games that do not comply with one or more of the rules will be examined in detail by a small team authorized by Epic Games.

After the review, the games will either be released, the developer will be notified for revision, or they will be permanently banned from the store. Permanently banned games will not be published on Epic Games under the same or different names, and the developer’s other games will be strictly controlled.

At this point, Epic Games seems to have taken every precaution to avoid adding games with sexual content and hate speech to its store, by not making the mistake Steam made for a while.

In addition, this new system will be a great opportunity for independent developers who trust their game but cannot find support to publish their game. After the feature becomes available later today, the Epic Games Store is expected to be flooded with independent productions in the coming days.

If you are an independent game developer and want to publish your game on the Epic Games Store, you can follow the instructions and publish your game by using the link here.
