The reactions feature, which is available in most messaging applications, including Facebook Messenger and iMessage, has come to WhatsApp. If you are registered to the beta program, you can reply to messages by installing the latest update released.
WhatsApp is developing the reactions feature to make it easier for people to express their feelings towards each other. Due to the nature of text messaging, there have always been times when you could not convey your current mood to the person you are talking to. At this point, the feature of reacting to messages in the chat with emoji comes into play.
WhatsApp reactions feature not working properly
The ability to react with emoji is problematic as it is not out of beta yet. In the first attempts, when you press and hold any message in the conversation, a small window with 6 emojis opened. However, none of these worked, the reaction left did not go to the other side unfortunately.
As it turns out, the feature does not work perfectly.
WABetaInfo, which is known for revealing new features coming to WhatsApp, also confirmed the issue. He stated that with the beta version of 2. 21. 22. 17 released today, the feature of reacting with emoji came to life, but it did not work. Also, other users who had access to the feature shared feedback that sending a reaction didn’t work.
In the past days, it has also been revealed that WhatsApp has developed a reaction notifications feature. As you can guess from the name, you will be instantly informed of the emojis sent to your message thanks to the reaction notifications. WhatsApp has not released this feature yet. It is expected that both the issue of not sending responses and the use of notifications will be offered in the future update.
Reaction notifications can be turned off
The feature added to Settings > Notifications will be active by default. But you will be able to disable reaction notifications by turning off the ‘Show Notifications’ option. If you want notifications to come silently, you will be able to make this request by turning off the ‘Sound’ option in the same settings.
