Facebook, which officially changed its name to Meta with the launch of Mark Zuckerberg, is going to change the name for other products and projects it produces in the new period.
The Oculus Rift project, which started with a Kickstarter campaign in 2012, caught the attention of Facebook in the same year and negotiations began. Shortly after, Facebook bought the Oculus VR company for $2 billion, and the company was completely acquired by Facebook.
Facebook had included the product in its eco system after purchasing the company. The company, which makes Facebook account mandatory for the use of applications and games, announced that it will remove this obligation with its launch yesterday. The name of Oculus Quest, which will expand in the new period, is about to change…
Andrew Bosworth, who heads the company’s virtual reality and augmented reality departments, said:
“As Meta, we decided to simplify our branding process. As a result, we are removing the Oculus name from our virtual reality devices. In the new period, you will see the phrase Meta Quest instead of the phrase ‘Oculus Quest developed by Facebook’. Likewise, the Oculus App will soon be called Meta Quest App. ”
