While the whole world is saying goodbye to fossil fuels, the automotive industry has also turned its face to electric power units. Recently, many manufacturers prefer fully electric or hybrid engines in their new models. And yet, automobile manufacturers have stopped developing internal combustion engines. However, BMW seems to disagree with other manufacturers.

Surprising move from BMW for gasoline and diesel engines

According to the German business newspaper Handelsblatt, BMW plans to continue production of internal combustion engines for a long time. In the news, it is underlined that BMW’s SUV models will be offered for sale with gasoline and diesel power units for at least 10 more years. It was even claimed that the Bavarian manufacturer developed a new platform for this purpose.

According to the information received, BMW is working on a new vehicle platform for models after 2027. BMW, which is expected to update its four, six and eight-cylinder engines, will continue this policy not only for gasoline, but also for diesel engines, which are in high demand in some markets.

In its previously announced reports, BMW stated that by 2030, half of its sales were planned to be electric vehicles. It seems quite understandable that the brand, which sells hundreds of thousands of cars a year, will not completely turn its back on internal combustion engines until 2030. As a result, the company will continue to sell significant gasoline and diesel cars for at least 10 more years.
