A recent article in the Financial Times focuses on Amazon’s high unfulfilled hopes for Alexa. Voice commands are supposed to help you turn your lights on and off, play music from your smart speaker, order products from Amazon’s site, and control your TV and security systems.
Microsoft: None of them work
Speaking to the Financial Times, Nadella cites the facts for voice assistants right now: “Whether it’s Cortana or Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri, none of them work. They’re all as stupid as a rock”
Of course, the reason behind these statements is quite obvious. Microsoft wants to do what we expect systems like Cortana to do with the new Bing Chat and search engine integrated with productive artificial intelligence. It is not yet clear whether Bing Chat will be a real revolution in interacting with technology or whether it will be like Cortana. But Microsoft is and is trying to deeply integrate the generative AI model into both its consumer and enterprise products. Of course, the measurement of their success will be determined by their income. So time will tell if they work or not.
