The satellite connection service for smartphones, which made its mark after being announced by Apple, is finally coming to Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. Qualcomm exhibiting its new technology at the MWC 2023 fair; Xiaomi, together with Oppo and other manufacturers, will open the Snapdragon satellite connection.
New era in communication with Snapdragon satellite link
Chipmaker giant Qualcomm first unveiled its Snapdragon Satellite technology, developed in partnership with satellite service provider Iridium, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. He detailed this technology at the MWC 2023 fair in Barcelona.
According to the statement at MWC 2023, smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Motorola, Honor and Nothing are working to bring satellite communication technology to their mobile devices. This technology will be available in upcoming RF modems and Snapdragon 8 and 4 series processors for smartphones.
The inclusion of Snapdragon satellite technology in Android models enables two-way messaging in emergencies. This allows communication even in rural areas where standard cellular networks are not available.
“We are integrating a global LEO constellation into Snapdragon Satellite,” said Francesco Grilli, Vice President of Qualcomm. Our business partners will be able to include it in new generation devices and offer it to users around the world.”
