At the beginning of each month, Statcounter publishes its reports detailing the latest browser and operating system market changes. The latest report shows us the current situation in February 2023. The resulting picture will apparently not please Microsoft at all.According to Statcounter, in February 2023 Windows 11 increased its market share by 1.01 points, reaching an all-time high of 19.13 percent. In other words, nearly one in five computers is running Microsoft’s latest operating system. The latest feature update (also known as Windows 11 Moment 2) released on February 28, 2023 may invite more users to the system.
Windows market shares
Because the operating system market is so large, we don’t usually see spikes. The increase can be fast when a new operating system comes out, but then the momentum usually drops. But February was an exception. As it will be remembered, Microsoft suspended Windows 7 and 8.1 completely at the beginning of the year and terminated the Extended Security Updates program. It seems that users here have switched to Windows 10. While Windows 10 had a share of 68.8 percent in January, it has a share of 73.25 percent as of now.- Windows 10 – 73.25% (+4.39)

Of course, the question may come to mind why users switched to Windows 10 instead of Windows 11. However, it should be noted that Windows 11 requires some strict compatibility requirements. Although several generations of old processors are capable of running Windows 11 very comfortably in theory, they cannot upgrade because they do not meet the requirements. Another reason is the image of Windows 11. Struggling with problems and shortcomings when it first came out, Windows 11 has just become complete.
