As part of Mobile World Congress 2023, Lenovo introduced new Windows laptops, Chromebooks, and some small all-in-ones for business and education. However, the most interesting thing to note in the company’s product launches is their plans to help make their PCs better for the environment. This includes an optional cover for the new ThinkPad Z13 Gen 2 Windows 11 laptop.

Lenovo says this cover is made from flax plant fibers and uses aluminum, which is 75 percent recycled material. Lenovo says this effort is just the beginning of the company’s plans to use more sustainable materials in its devices: “Increasing use of more recycled materials and Post-Consumer Content (PCC) plastics in certain components, Lenovo’s continued focus on supporting a circular economy, and Lenovo’s consumer It is in line with the goal of integrating post-post recycled content into 100 percent of PC products by 2025.”

In addition to using sustainable materials in its products, Lenovo is making other efforts to be more environmentally friendly. These include the use of sustainable aviation fuel, the use of biofuels to ship products, and the inclusion of renewable energy sources in Lenovo’s factories.

The ThinkPad Z13 Gen 2 laptop with plant-based cover will feature AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors and Radeon 700M Series GPUs. It will be released in Europe in July with a starting price of 1,649 euros. There’s no word yet on the US price or release date.
