In preparation for the Shanghai hard fork on Ethereum (ETH), the Shapella upgrade on the testnet Sepolia has been successfully carried out.
The decentralized smart contracts platform Ethereum attracts attention with updates and a few changes in its network structure. Finally, the popular project, which was restructured with The Merge, experienced noticeable changes in the token supply.
Starting to return to the deflationary system, Ethereum started to prepare for the Shanghai upgrade, which offers a solution to scaling problems. Finally, Ethereum has successfully implemented the “Shapella” upgrade, which combines the names of the upcoming Shanghai and Capella hard forks.
Ethereum Ready for Shanghai Upgrade with Shapella
After months of testing and temporary devnet launch, Ethereum (ETH) Shapella has rolled out its network upgrade in Sepolia.
The decentralized smart contracts platform is undergoing several updates to better its network structure. Moving from PoW to PoS with “The Merge”, the project now focuses on scaling issues. Aiming to make the network faster and cheaper, the developer team started preparing for the Shanghai hard fork.
In this context, Ethereum will allow validators to interact more on the Beacon Chain with its Shapella upgrade on the Sepolia testnet.
The Shapella upgrade will allow validators to withdraw their staked Ether (stETH) from the Beacon Chain to the execution layer, among other new functions.
The next target of the dev team will be the Goerli testnet, which has been at the center of the discussions recently. The team is also trying to figure out how it works in Goerli before the Shanghai upgrade.
