China-based tech giant Huawei and auto company SERES have signed an agreement to expand their business. As part of the agreement, these two companies announced that they have collaborated to produce a ‘flagship’ smart car.
According to the statements made, Huawei and SERES plan to launch the first smart car models within the scope of their cooperation this year. This new car will feature a high-end intelligent driving system, and both companies plan to launch successor models next year.
More than 1 million electric vehicles are targeted to be sold by 2026.
As part of a long-term partnership, Huawei and SERES aim to sell over 1 million electric cars by 2026. To achieve this, SERES will gather industrial resources and promote the application of new technologies, materials and processes in collaborative models.
In fact, SERES and Huawei first signed a JBP (joint business plan) agreement in 2021. JBP is a business model that helps consumer goods suppliers and retailers build profitable relationships that benefit both parties and enhance their trading experience through recognition of mutual interests.
Since 2021, Huawei has started selling SERES brand cars in its stores. Now, within the scope of these new agreements, Huawei will undertake the task of establishing the ‘smart’ system rather than the production of the car. The vehicle will be launched under the AITO brand.
