While BlueWallet makes the decision to disconnect from LndHub, it aims to promote self-storage solutions and greater decentralization with this decision.

According to the official statement, BlueWallet is terminating the Lightning node connection with LndHub. BlueWallet, Bitcoin Lightning Network’s BlueWallet users need to connect to nodes to continue using their service.

“Users Should Move Their Assets ASAP”

Tweeting about the change, Lightning developer Calle said: “The most important thing is that people don’t panic and suddenly noobs don’t carry their on-chain funds or false Lightning balances.”

Lightning Network is a Layer-2 payment solution built on Bitcoin. The Lightning Network is used to send small amounts of Bitcoin called satoshis or sata, usually using a lightning wallet.

BlueWallet is a popular lightning wallet with over 42 BTC liquidity and often recommended by well-known Bitcoin investors. According to data from Amboos, its largest channel has a capacity of 4 BTC.

Calle continued, “The account is being closed, not LndHub or BlueWallet itself. The account here is used by the BlueWallet team, but they don’t want to do that anymore.” While users will still be able to withdraw their sat’s, it will no longer be possible to create new lightning wallets or refill existing wallets on the LndHub node. BlueWallet announced in its announcement that users with sats connected to BlueWallet’s lightning node should move them as soon as possible.

The service will expire on April 30th, so it is very important for BlueWallet users to move their sats to another service or wallet of their choice.
