Allen & Overy (A&O for short), which provides consultancy services in our country and is considered one of the 3 largest law firms in the world, announced today that they will use the specially designed artificial intelligence platform called Harvey AI as a consultant.
Stating that the development of this artificial intelligence, whose name is thought to be inspired by the character of Harvey Specter in the Suits series, took more than 2 years and has been tested in certain offices of the company since last November, officials state that they received support from OpenAI and the company’s senior lawyers during the development of the artificial intelligence platform.
Expected to serve 3,500 employees in the company’s 43 offices worldwide starting today, Harvey is expected to answer over 40,000 questions a day. In addition to basic legal rules, Harvey can analyze complex case files and summarize them in a simple and understandable way, giving lawyers the best defense under the law of the country where the case is located.
According to executives, Harvey is the beginning of a new era.
Wim Dejonghe, one of the top executives of A&O, states that Harvey performs far above expectations and that he can find a way out in cases that even expert lawyers can’t get out of. In addition to Dejonghe, who described this artificial intelligence platform as “the beginning of a new era for the legal world”, David Wakeling, head of the company’s Innovation division, also made statements about artificial intelligence.
“As someone who has been working in the field of ‘Legal Technology’ for about 15 years, I have never seen anything like Harvey. Working in more than one language, Harvey has a good command of almost all different areas of law and can handle hours of work in just a few minutes. We had great results during the beta period.” Wakeling also stated that he believes Harvey will change the legal world.
A&O executives, who did not provide details about Harvey’s usage areas, announced that the new artificial intelligence is available to all A&O employees as of today.
