Thanks to Bixby’s new update, the voice assistant now supports custom wake-up phrase. Users will be able to customize this from Bixby’s Settings. In addition, Bixby will now be able to remember previous conversations. Thus, it will be possible to continue talking on the same subject even after a certain period of time, without breaking the context.
For example, in Samsung Health, you can ask it to play music depending on the exercise you want it to start. To give another example, when you ask Bixby about an athlete and then “How tall is he?” When you say it, it will give you the relevant answer about the athlete. Bixby also gets advanced in-device AI support. Thus, some important commands can be run even if there is no active internet connection. Thus, basic commands such as taking a screenshot or turning on the flashlight can be run offline.
Bixby Text Search will only be available on Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 models running One UI 5.1 for now. With a software update, all new Bixby features will come to compatible smartphones and tablets later this month.
