A new feature under development has been detected in the Android beta version of the world’s most popular instant messaging application, WhatsApp, with the code 2.23.5.3. This new feature, spotted by WABetaInfo, reveals that the app will soon start offering newsletters. So what exactly will this feature serve? How will WhatsApp deliver the newsletter to the user?
The widespread use of the Internet has enabled the Internet to become a news source. In this context; Platforms such as Bundle, Feedly and Substack have succeeded in enabling users to follow the news closely. Now, WhatsApp seems to be working on a new feature that will serve this purpose and will rival the platforms we mentioned above. This feature, currently referred to as “Newsletter”, can significantly change the user experience.
Newsletters will be like a version of the Communities feature
WhatsApp launched a feature called Communities months ago. This feature enabled the creation of announcement groups in the simplest way possible. The Newsletter feature, which was detected in the latest Android beta version of WhatsApp, seems to be a new version of Communities.
Once the newsletter feature becomes available, news outlets will be able to create WhatsApp newsletters. Users will select the newsletters that interest them and have created their own news feed. Thanks to this feature, it will be much easier to reach the developments in the fields of interest. The feature, which also prioritizes privacy, will prevent the resources added to the Newsletter from being viewed by others. Also, news sources will not know who is following them. Of course, since the feature has not even come to the beta version yet, we can see that all these features have changed when it is offered to its users.
