Saudi Arabia is currently experiencing an unprecedented construction boom. The previously announced 170km long line city The Line, followed by the entertainment-centered mega-project Qiddiya, and now the cube-shaped skyscraper Mukaab, will rise on Arabian soil.

Mukaab will be 400 meters high, 400 meters wide and 400 meters long, but will only be able to climb up to 41st place in the world’s tallest building rankings. According to the statement made by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, this interesting skyscraper will include a museum, a technology and design university, a theater and more than 80 entertainment venues. Expressed as the new face of Riyadh, the skyscraper will be only 20 minutes away from Riyadh Airport. Inside this cubical exterior, there will be another spiral-shaped skyscraper.

20 Empire State Buildings will fit inside

Mukaab will have a floor area of about 2 square kilometers, which the Saudi Government Public Investment Fund says would theoretically be large enough to hold 20 Empire State Buildings. According to the reports, there will be 100 thousand residential units, 9 thousand hotel rooms, 980 thousand square meters of shops and 1.4 million square meters of office spaces in this giant building.

The project is run by the New Murabba Development Company, chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It is expected to be completed by 2030. When the project is completed, it is aimed to bring about $48 billion in non-oil revenue to Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product. You can see more details about the design of the building below.
