At the beginning of 2021, Sony introduced the $2,500 Xperia Pro. This product was a phone the company made for video professionals. Now Sony is back with a second pro-grade smartphone designed to appeal to photography enthusiasts. The main feature of the Xperia Pro-I is the 1-inch sensor, borrowed from the company’s RX100 VII point-and-shoot camera. That’s a much larger sensor than you’ll find on most phones.

With the camera, which gives very good results in low light, the phone can record 12-bit RAW files and shoot 4K video at 120 frames per second. The camera, which autofocuses from 315 points, can thus cover 95 percent of the frame.

The Pro-I also has Sony’s BIONZ X image processor. In this way, it can shoot video at 20 frames per second while autofocus and auto light adjustment are active.

Leaving its camera aside, the Xperia Pro-I is actually a powered Xperia 1 III. The phone has a Snapdragon 888 backed by 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It is also possible to gain additional storage space up to 1 TB with the help of a microSD card. Sony claims that with a 4,500mAh battery, we can use the Pro-I for a full day on a single charge. Inside the box is a 30W power adapter that can charge the phone up to 50 percent in 30 minutes.

The Pro-I also has the same 6.5-inch OLED display that came with the Xperia 1 III. The screen supports 120Hz refresh rate and offers 4K resolution.

Of course, this camera sensor and new features added to the mobile phone do not come cheap. The price tag Sony puts on the Xperia Pro-I is a huge figure of 1,800 dollars. The phone is slated to hit the market in December.
