At a conference in The Hague, more than 60 countries called for international rules to limit the use of AI on battlefields. China was invited to the conference as one of the world leaders in artificial intelligence.
Rule-making work begins
2,000 delegates from countries and technology companies agreed to form a commission that would regulate the use of artificial intelligence in wars. Participants will soon begin work on identifying key principles.
A former NATO commander, General Joerg Vollmer, believes that decisions on the battlefield should be made by people and be responsible for them. Conference participants also think that artificial intelligence may have “undesirable consequences” for all humanity.
