Hatay has been the region where the most calls for help have been made since the first day of the earthquake. High-rise buildings in the city were shattered. High-rise residences were shattered, citizens waited for hours for their loved ones to be removed from the rubble.
However, in a district of Hatay, not a single building was destroyed, let alone a casualty. That district is the Erzin district of Hatay. Erzin Mayor Ökkeş Elmasoğlu, who appeared on television and gave an interview, explained why such an event did not occur there.
