After the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, aid was pouring in from many companies to the region. In some posts circulating on social media, it was claimed that AFAD did not accept fleeces with Tuborg and Efes logos. It was claimed that the reason for this was beer advertising.
Teyit.org published an analysis on this subject and announced that the claim was false. According to the information received, AFAD officials did not give an instruction that products with alcoholic beverage emblems would not be accepted. In addition, it was stated that companies such as Efes and Tuborg did not reach AFAD to share the fleeces with the emblem.
The circulating images turned out to be from a second-hand app
On the other hand, Anadolu Efes made a statement to Teyit that they sent aid including clothing to the region; however, he stated that the fleeces with the emblem were not sent. The company said that it provides assistance on social media such as heaters, sleeping bags, shelter and food.
When the fleece image was searched, Teyit revealed that the image circulating on social media belonged to a fleece sold in a second-hand shopping application. This showed that the claim was not true.
Regulations prevent shipping products with logos of alcoholic beverage brands
Finally, it was reported that the regulations for alcoholic beverages prevent the sending of products with the logo. This regulation, called the Regulation on the Procedures and Principles Regarding the Sale and Presentation of Tobacco Products and Alcoholic Beverages, also prevents products from being sent even as aid. Anadolu Efes also said in a statement to Teyit that it is not possible for them to send clothes with the emblem for this reason.
