For example, let’s say you buy a Galaxy S23 with 128GB of memory. Half of that amount will already be gone when you pick up the phone. Initial investigations revealed that the storage space consumed by the operating system can vary by 35% or even more depending on the country of purchase. High consumption is more evident in the US and European versions.
The Sammobile website has released screenshots of the Indian (left) and Dutch (right) versions of the Galaxy S23. In the first image, you can see that the system occupies 38.39 GB of free space, and in the second, this figure is 58.04 GB.
Why does it consume so much storage?
The firmware takes up a lot of space due to pre-installed applications (bloatware) and clone applications. As you know, Samsung is obliged to include Google applications on its devices. The company includes both these apps and its own apps that do the same job on their smartphones.
For example, Galaxy models come with both Samsung’s own Messages app and Google’s Messages app installed. Both cannot be removed from the device. This is also true for some other services and bloatware applications that are deeply integrated into the software. Therefore, no matter how hard you try, you still cannot get a completely clean Android operating system.
