At the end of 2022, which we left behind, the cryptocurrency exchange FTX had a liquidity crisis, upsetting the markets, and finally declared bankruptcy. Then the CEO of the company, Sam Bankman-Fried, requested his resignation and was sued.

Before the company went bankrupt and Bankman had no such lawsuits, he was funding an artificial intelligence company called Anthropic. Of course, when FTX and Bankman left, the funding went too. However, with a shocking development, Google announced that it was the new financier of Anthropic.

Google invests $300 million in artificial intelligence company Anthropic

The $300 million figure was announced by the Financial Times on Feb. Anthropic did not reveal any figures, but confirmed its investment partnership with Google Cloud on the same day. The company has raised a total of $580 million to date, excluding Google’s fund. 530 million of this money was provided by former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

The reason why Google invested in Anthropic seems to be the development and training of ‘Claude’, the ChatGPT-like artificial intelligence that Google wants to develop, by Anthropic. Therefore, more investments can be made in the future.

According to the Financial Times, Google Cloud bought about 10% of Anthropic’s shares. What are you thinking? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
