In a new blog post published by Google, it was announced that biometric authentication for Chrome Incognito sessions has been added to the browser. This feature prevents anyone else from entering your private session, which is open when you exit Chrome. In order to return to the incognito tab, one of the biometric authentications such as fingerprint must be used.

Biometric authentication is coming to Chrome’s incognito tabs

This feature has been available in the iOS version of Chrome for a while, but now it’s becoming widely available on Android as well. To enable the feature on your device, you need to turn ON Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → “Lock incognito tabs when you close Chrome”.

Lock Incognito tabs when you close Chrome, as the name suggests, crashes when you exit the browser or enter another application. In order to open this lock, biometric data such as fingerprint, pin or face scan are required. So someone else won’t be able to access your incognito tabs.

Google also says it’s expanding its Security Checkup feature, which can do things like scan your saved passwords and notify you if any of them have been compromised, and weed out malicious extensions. Google is now putting this feature in a more proactive way. Now this feature will offer “more personalized recommendations and reminders” to keep you informed about what permissions sites have. Therefore, it will be easier to control the permissions you have absentmindedly approved.
