OpenCore, which allows users to install the latest macOS version on Apple’s discontinued Macs, is out of beta and is now available for download for all users who want to try it.

OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) is a tool from Apple that allows legacy Macs to run macOS Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura without official support. The tool is based on the same OpenCore bootloader used for Hackintosh, a well-known method of running macOS on Windows PCs.

A few months after the first beta version of macOS Ventura was released, the developers of the tool shared that the program is working. According to the developers, Apple removed most of the old drivers from macOS 13. This is because; this version no longer supports Macs with Intel processors older than 7th generation. Despite these limitations, the latest version of the program successfully brings to life models that have been discontinued by Apple.

The models that can be installed with OpenCore and macOS Ventura are as follows:

  • 2008 – 2016 MacBook
  • 2009 – 2017 MacBook Air
  • 2008 – 2016 MacBook Pro
  • 2009 – 2017 Mac mini
  • 2007 – 2017 iMac
  • 2008 – 2013 Mac Pro

It should be noted that the program is still under development and Apple has made changes that it has not approved. Not an ideal solution for those who use a Mac for business. You can find detailed information about the program on the GitHub page.
