US-based crypto exchange Coinbase will continue its partnership with Borussia Dortmund as a premium partner.
Coinbase has been dealing with serious problems lately. It cut about 20 percent of its workforce in mid-past summer. Earlier this month, it laid off 950 more jobs and announced that it would cease operations in Japan, citing unfavorable economic conditions. The exchange still continues to maintain its existing collaborations.
Coinbase Maintains Borussia Dortmund Partnership
Coinbase has reportedly doubled down on its deal with Borussia Dortmund (BVB), one of Germany’s most successful football teams.
The crypto exchange began its partnership with Borussia Dortmund in July last year by running ads on video screens in the club’s stadium. Under the new terms, Coinbase will serve as BVB’s premium partner, promoting its products and services at Signal-Iduna-Park (the club’s home ground and Germany’s largest stadium), and providing crypto education programs for team employees. It is unknown how much Coinbase spent on this deal.
Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund, said that the deal will run until the end of June but could be extended depending on the future state of the cryptocurrency industry.
