Microsoft recently announced that it would end digital license sales of the Windows 10 operating system business. The software giant has now announced that it will stop issuing optional updates for some versions of Windows 10.

According to the company’s website, there will be no optional non-security updates for Windows 10 20H2 and Windows 10 21H2 after March. Cumulative security updates, released on the second Tuesday of each month, will continue to be available.

22H2 will be the only version to get full support

Full support for Windows 10 version 22H2 will continue. So it will get both security and optional updates. In the meantime, it’s worth remembering that most versions of 20H2 are no longer supported, with the exception of Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise, which will stop receiving mandatory updates on May 9, 2023.

On the other hand, most versions of 21H2 are still supported. Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations SKUs until June 13, 2023; Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise will receive security updates until June 11, 2024.
