Layoffs begin at Riot Games
There has been no denial or confirmation from Riot Games on the subject, but the owner of the claim is reporter Jacob Wolf, who announced the layoffs at technology companies. Wolf reported in his tweet that Riot Games started layoffs as of January 19th. For now, it remains unclear how many people have been laid off.
On the other hand, according to reports, most of the layoffs are made in the human resources, support and e-sports departments. Riot Games, on the other hand, has not patched large-scale layoffs in the past. Therefore, we can say that the company is affected by the economic difficulties experienced today.
Riot Games recently announced that they will increase their investments for 2023 and announced that it has allocated the largest budget ever for League of Legends. On the other hand, the cinematic video published for the new season of LoL drew the reaction of the players due to its poor quality and caused the statements made to be viewed with a question mark. Meanwhile, Riot Games is working on League of Legends IP-based fighting game Project L, hack-and-slash ARPG-style Project F, and eponymous MMORPG projects. The second season of the very popular Netflix Arcane animation is in the making.
