One of the features of Tesla, which changed the course of the industry with the electric cars it launched, is the autonomous driving system. The system is quite advanced today. However, the allegations made about the events in the past make us think that the autonomous driving system consisted of a big “lie” in those years.
Ashok Elluswamy, the company’s name in charge of the autonomous driving system, who testified within the scope of a lawsuit against Tesla, made statements about a video published in 2016. According to Elluswamy, the video was not reflective of reality and was just a demo. Allegedly, the video, which depicts what the autonomous driving system can offer, actually consisted of a predetermined route in which all kinds of possibilities were integrated. In other words, the vehicle was not driving autonomously, but was only executing previously entered commands.
Elon Musk shared the video with praise
The video, which is claimed to not fully reflect the truth, was also shared by Elon Musk in 2016, “Tesla drives itself on the streets and on the highway and finds parking. Without human intervention!” statements were made. However, it is said that this is not the case. Yes, the Tesla in the video was driving by itself and finding a parking space. However, according to the statement, what the autonomous driving system will do has already been coded beforehand. Ashok Elluswamy also states that 3D mapping was done for the video.
We checked the Twitter account that Elon Musk actively uses. However, we see that no explanation has been made on the subject. If there is a new development in the future, we will update this news.
