While the heaviest economic crisis of recent years continues, technology sectors are experiencing record declines in demand. Many industries have reached perhaps the lowest income levels in their history.

Smartphone market hit rock bottom

According to last year’s fourth quarter analysis, the smartphone market sold around 270 million units and fell 17 percent year-on-year. Thus, the worst fourth quarter of the last 10 years was seen.

Despite all the negativities experienced, Apple increased its market share to 25 percent and maintained its leadership as it was in the same period last year. Samsung also gained a market share of 20 percent, up 1 point. Chinese producers, on the other hand, declined in this period.

In 2022, less than 1.2 billion shipments were made with a decrease of 11 percent. Samsung managed to increase its total market share to 22 percent. Apple, on the other hand, rose to 19 percent. Chinese producers were also on the decline throughout the year.

No major improvements are expected in economic conditions this year, but there may be some recovery on the Asian side, especially with the impact of tourism. It is likely that this will take effect after the summer months.
