Samsung is expanding its Self Repair program. In the latest statement from the company, it was stated that some models in the Galaxy Book Pro series are also included in this program. In addition to laptops, the Galaxy S22 family will now be part of the Self Repair service.

Samsung has expanded its Self Repair Program with five new devices. These models include the Galaxy Book Pro 15-inch, Galaxy Book Pro 360 15-inch, and the Galaxy S22 series (S22, Plus and Ultra). The company is partnering with iFixit to provide the repair kits, although prices are currently unknown.
Step-by-step instruction guides for repairing the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy S22 series will be available on iFixit’s website. The content of repair kits will differ between smartphones and laptops. Galaxy Book Pro owners will be able to replace both the front and back case, battery, display, touchpad, power button and sticky feet on the bottom of the device.
The repair kits offered for the Galaxy S22 phones are very similar to the S20 and S21. With the tools offered by iFixit, it will be possible to replace the screen, rear window and charging port. However, although it is offered on the S20 and S21, it is not possible to replace the battery of the Galaxy S22.
Interestingly, Samsung has not yet taken the 15.6-inch models of the Galaxy Book Pro or Pro 360 into its Self Repair program. The company has not yet made a statement about the battery of the S22 and these models.
Old kits used by device owners can be returned free of charge, and the replaced part can be sent to Samsung for recycling.
For comparison, Apple included MacBook users in its Self Service Repair program a few months ago. M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, 14- and 16-inch 2021 M1 MacBook Pro can be repaired by customers.
