The scientific world still has not found a definitive solution to Alzheimer’s, one of the biggest health problems of humanity. However, various measures continue to be investigated to prevent this situation from happening in the first place.

One of the discoveries that could potentially prevent Alzheimer’s was recently made. In animal experiments, it was observed that increasing the effect of “brain-derived neurotrophic factor” increased memory formation and storage in the brain.

However, the first studies were not able to increase this effect by artificial means:

After this discovery, scientists tried to increase the effect of neurotrophic factor with pharmaceutical interventions in humans. But the same effect could not be achieved with artificial methods. So this time the goal was to increase this effect naturally.

The most effective methods were determined to increase the effect in a natural way:

Scientists from the University of Otago have identified the best methods to increase the effect of neurotrophic factor in humans. These methods were listed as follows:

  • fasting for 20 hours
  • 90 minutes of moderate exercise
  • 6 minutes of vigorous exercise
  • Combining exercise and hunger

The most effective of the above methods was to do high-intensity sports for 6 minutes. Moreover, the difference was 4-5 times more effective than even the closest method.

However, scientists reported that they are also working on different studies to further clarify the relationship between hunger and cognitive health.
