Instagram, one of the world’s most popular online photo and video sharing platforms, recently launched its “Store” feature. This feature, as the name suggests, allowed Instagram users to shop through the application. The statement made by the platform today reveals that this feature will no longer be as prominent as it is today.
According to the statement made by Instagram, with an update that will be available as of next month, the Store icon at the bottom of the application will be removed. Users will see a button in the middle to share new content. Where the Store icon is now, there will be a Reels button.
So, is Instagram Store being removed?
When we look at the descriptions of Instagram, we see that the Store feature has not been completely removed. Users will continue to see Instagram Store products in the Discover and Reels section. In addition, brands will continue to sell products on their Instagram profiles. In short, the update, which will be released in February, will remove the store tab, but the shopping feature of Instagram will continue to be used on the discover and brands page.
Instagram did not make a detailed statement about its decision. As of now, we don’t know exactly whether the Store icon will disappear instantly or if it will disappear gradually. When February comes, everything will become more clear.
