There are times when governments around the world ban WhatsApp and other social media services for some reason. To counter this, WhatsApp is introducing a new feature, WhatsApp Proxy, which will allow bypassing this ban.

Volunteers and organizations can create proxy servers if the government of your country of residence decides to prevent you from using WhatsApp. These servers can be used by people to connect with WhatsApp, even if the use of WhatsApp is prohibited in the country. The company says you can set up a proxy using a server with ports 80, 443, or 5222 and a domain (or subdomain) that points to the server’s IP address.
