iPhone 15 will reverse the balance of power
In a new post today, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple will turn to BOE this year on panel supply. According to the analyst, 70 percent of the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus screens will come from BOE and 30 percent from Samsung.
Next year, Apple is expected to shift its main focus to LTPO panels for iPhones. Samsung and LG will continue to supply panels for premium models. However, Kuo thinks the BOE could take a 20 to 30 percent share of these orders as well. If that happens, BOE could become Apple’s largest display supplier in the second half of 2024, with orders for both OLED and LTPO OLED.
In addition, the BOE is expected to witness a massive increase in shipments over the next few years. According to the analyst, the giant manufacturer will further increase its profits with cheaper foldable screens for Android devices and Apple’s orders for OLED and mini-LED.
