Foxconn, known for being Apple’s largest production partner, is now Nvidia’s production partner. Taiwanese technology giant announced that Nvidia will be a supplier of electronic control units for processors to be developed on the Drive Orin chip.

In addition to its manufacturing partnership, Foxconn plans to use these modules in its own electric car brand. According to the company’s statement, the Drive Orin hardware and the Drive Hyperion sensor package will be built into electric cars.

We know that Foxconn has been making an intense effort to produce electric cars lately. It will also work with automakers like Mercedes-Benz and Volvo to incorporate Nvidia’s artificial intelligence technology into driver assistance systems.

In 2021, the Taiwanese manufacturer announced its plan to establish an electric car factory in the US by 2023, and unveiled its product lineup, including the Model E sedan, Model C SUV and Model T electric bus under the “Foxtron” brand.

With the new partnership, Nvidia silicon and sensors produced at the Foxconn factory can also be used in these electric cars. Nvidia is also working on a next-generation automotive system called Drive Thor, which is expected to reach vehicles by 2025.
