The space race, which started in the 1950s, is getting hotter today thanks to technology. This race has reached a whole new level, especially with the involvement of companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin.

When this is the case, technology and design companies are doing their best to make a name for themselves in this space race. The motorcycle design brand named Hookie announced that it has designed the world’s first lunar motorcycle to make an ambitious entry into the space race.

An unusual “Moon motorcycle” concept

Explaining that the motorcycle, named after the only living Tardigrades that can live in all conditions, is much lighter than the spacecraft used by astronauts, the company claims that the vehicle will be a much more logical transportation vehicle that can be produced much cheaper.

According to the information provided by the site named Interesting Engineering, the cost of sending a 1 kg payload into space costs about $2,270. While the standard spacecraft used by astronauts weighs 210 kg ($476,000), Hookie’s motorcycle named Tardigrad weighs only 139 kg ($315,000). This weight difference between the two vehicles will be of great benefit in saving both cargo and cost in critical space missions.

“Tardigrade doesn’t have to follow any rules”

Nico and Sylvia Müller, the founders of Hookie, announced that they were first inspired by the digital drawings of designer Andrew Fabishevskiy in the design of the motorcycle. It was announced that the team, which developed the design and produced a life-size and working electric motorcycle, after obtaining his permission, spent a lot of time and effort in the design of the vehicle.

Nico Müller explained that the vehicle they produce does not have to comply with any traffic and aerodynamic rules, so they act more freely and focus on lightening the vehicle. The body of the motorcycle, which uses light metal, thin aluminum and 3D printed parts, is specially designed to be almost transparent.

It was also explained that the motorcycle is made of small parts and parts can easily be changed in space, in case any part is broken or broken.

Nico Müller said, “NASA knows about our Tardigrad project. We will be very happy to cooperate with NASA on this issue in the future. He explained that there could be a possible partnership with NASA.

Tardigrad will be on display for the first time at the Petersen Automotive Museum in the USA in mid-October.
