According to the research company Strategy Analytics, the number of people using 5G worldwide has exceeded 1 billion. Last June, that figure was 820 million. Although many countries are not ready for this technology yet, an important milestone has passed in terms of user base.The report states that by the end of this month, 5G networks will cover 36% of the world’s population, and 5G-enabled phones will soon account for half of global phone sales.
Most users in China
The number of users will increase further with the adoption of new countries. 5G connectivity went live in India in November. More operators in Latin America expanding their 5G services will also contribute to this.
Let’s add that the highest number of 5G users was registered in China with 542 million subscribers. This figure corresponds to 32.2% of mobile device users in the country.
